Embellish Color Challenge with Ribbon

I'm really enjoying the opportunity to make cards again, especailly with such fabulous challenges to enter in! This latest one from Embellish Magagzine was great as it was using some of my favourite colours!!
Do you ever find yourself before getting started on a card wondering what would be the best look, what layout to use, or perhaps how can you make this different from sooooo many other cards you've already made?!! With all that in mind I went to my scrap box! Oh how I love what comes out of that box! Strips of this and pieces of that all come together to create a wonderful card!
I have lots going on with my little birdie, strating with the "Scribble This" wheel which was cleared embossed. Then I layered with various stamps and did some popping pastels, sponging and rough edging on my ink pads. I didn't know if I wanted an eye and after various buttons and brads I found the pearl, YAY that's it!!! Ribbon down the side as a bit of a feature, a greeting and there you have it!!!
I hope you've had fun with your latest project! What was it??

Embellish Stripes Colour Challenge

I'm so excited that I got to join in the Embellish Magazine challenge again!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the colours when I saw them and the idea to work with strips is really groovy and something I would not usually do.
Don't you just love that blouse?? And that dress and... well I love that amazing suitcase seat thingy too!! The stripey paper (seen in the swatch samples above) has just been released from the amazingly talented Ashley Cannon Newell, called Embellish strips by A New Design (click HERE for her great blog!)
My thoughts were to use ribbon for my stripes and sewing too. I really enjoy sewing on my cards, it's just the setting up of the machine that sometimes seems too hard! (all I need to do is take off the cover and plug it in, this after I've cleared away ALL the monstrosity that accumulates on top!! he he)
So here is my card...As you know I'm quite partial to little birds and kraft is such a groovy colour to work with( like the twine has a sort of krafty colour to it, don't you think!??!!) Anyway it's a must to have in your crafty collection!! Have you ever used it??
I'm really happy with the end result, especially how lovely the bird looks in that frame!
Thanks for popping by, have a SUPER AUSTRALIA DAY!!!

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #17

I've had time to actually see a challenge (see them all the time and want to play along) and then DO IT!!!! YAY! YAY! YAY!
My wonderful, super Husband has taken our precious older kiddies to the Hadspen river for a water ski and swim and I'm here at home whilst Esther is snoozing making cards and posting them!! YAY! YAY! YAY!!
So here is the challenge from the lovely Keesh.

Everyone, well nearly everyone struggles with Cameo coral, for me I've been using it for ages, I really like it (along with last years Groovy gava!!) I even have tops and cardies in this cool colour so I was excited to play along! I do have to say though that my cards (yes I made TWO!!) are very, VERY simple! I've come to the realization that this is ok, at least I'm joining in!!
So I needed some House warming cards and with the super fab new "neighbours" set that Stampin Up! are releasing as of tomorrow with the SALE-A-BRATION promo. When you spend $100 or more on cool SU products you can get one for FREE!!! There are 4 new sets to choose from and if you're anything like me you'll want them all! :0)

I did mention that they're simple, though I did manage to create 2 different looks with just a few changes. Can you spot the difference?? He he! Yes I know it's easy, but which one do you prefer?

Inside this one I stamped "home sweet home". And the way I did the choc "twine" in the button is with some very thin chocolate chip card stock, you just tread it through like you would normal ribbon and presto you have co-ordinating ribbon! I got this niffty trick from the super talented Sarah Klass 2 years ago at Convention!
So there you have it, I participated!! Probably wont win the awesome prize up for grabs but I'm content in knowing that I played along!!!
What I'd like to do next is the Just add ink challenge and the new Embellish challenge!!

Time Sharnee, all I need is some "free" time!

Friends 24-7

A good while ago I made this card for my lovely friend Samantha. It was using one of my absolute FAVOURITE sets Friends 24-7. It's soooo versatile and with the matching Jumbo wheel it's one that HAD TO BE in my collection, especially too that it has a bird!!

I love how vintage looking it is and the colours (Samantha loves blue, duck egg blue to be exact!) it was fun to try a different look. I firstly stamped on the Baroque background then with the flourish I clear embossed. For the Flowers and the bird I also clear embossed them and the Bashful blue piece in the middle was where I added the wheel! With some ribbon and a cute button (must have's for most of my cards!! Love these embellishments!) the card is done!
What are your favourite embellishments?? I'd love to hear from you :0)
Have a glorious Sunday!

So here is my card...
I couldn't shake the thought of when you're younger and you pick the petals of a daisy and each one say
"He loves me,"
"He loves me not,"
"He loves me!"
Have you ever done that?? But on this card I know that HE DOES LOVE ME so I wanted to make a point of that 3 times!!! (he he!)
Well that's it for now, I'll be back soon though to post some pic's of our now (as of today!) 6 week old baby!! Oh how adorable she is!!

She now has officially smiled at 3 people, Daddy first (of course!!) then Me and just yesterday Nanny (my mum!) Esther has much more wake time and so many more cuddles, especially from her adoring sister Sophia!! What an absolute joy this last 6 weeks have been! I remember with Hannah I was told
"You just have to make it through the first 6 weeks and then you'll have a routine and things will be easier!" SO it was like hurry up 6 weeks!!!
This time it's totally the opposite, Oh MY it's been six weeks!! Where has my newborn gone!?? So enjoy my collection of snap shots and my super wonderful, completely amazing family!!!
"Can we get that bubble out??"

Kristina Werner's Color Inspriation #57

Well it's been a LONG time coming since the lovely Kristina has down one of her wonderful colour Challenges but she was inspired by some material and the need arose to see what people would come up with!!
So here I am with my creation! Hannah is celebrating her 8th birthday next week and I needed some pretty groovy invitations for her Fairy garden party. I loved the colours sooo much and thought these would be a great place to start. It's been a while for me "creating" that is after having little Esther, though I've wanted too it just hasn't happened! I was so excited when the ideas came for these cute little garden invites!!

I love these flowers, they are sooo easy to make with the assorted circle punches and the good old scallop circle! My little fairy is made by using the All in the Family set and the Priceless set. All you do is a mask for your dress and then stamp on the heart, cut out the flower from Family favourites and you have yourself a wand!
Here's a close up of the flower detail, I've roughed them up and also added some "Definitions" words to a few flowers also, the leaves are stamped with the swirl from Priceless.

We have some boys coming to the party so here is the Fairy/Gnome invite for Hannah's close male friends! Coloured all in green they look pretty cool I think!

I hope you like them! When was the last time you made invitations?? They are always soooo much fun especially when you have a great theme to work with!

a different point of view...

I've learnt a lot being a Home schooling mum and when it comes to art one of the main things we look at is "the point of view".
Where is the light source coming from, which angle has the illustrator drawn the image, so on and so forth!
We have had our camera out a lot (getting snaps of Esther) and as a result Sophia has wanted to take lots of photo's too! The other day she had the camera and wanted to take a photo
of Allan and I.
She did this and then continued to take some other snaps...

her Daddy from her view!
(love this Tee by the way! Sarah and Tim brought it back after visiting NYC!!)

Our towels hanging on the oven! Again this is not the way I see them!!

And lastly our kitchen bench!!!
How completely wonderful are these "snaps" I love Sophia's point of view!! You just don't realise how the world looks to people until you see it through their eyes! That's exactly what Sophia has shown me by her super duper pictures!!!
I think we all could at times see the world in a different point of view! Let me know what you'd like to see differently I love to hear from you!!
Happy New Year lovely ones,
Smiles Sharnee :0)
