Cards & Tags #1 - Celebrate Today

We have just celebrated 3 birthdays here in our family, so the crafting desk has been busy! I love to make pressies look really inviting to open with all the twine and ribbon and of course a tag to match!
Here is the card and tag I made for Allan's birthday (my super man!) I had some wonderful scraps of DSP on my desk and was inspired to make a hot air balloon with them, after all they are MY favourite!!

 

 

 

 

The Polaroid film frame is a retired goodie, confetti white cardstock as well as the DSP, but the balloon stamp, washi tape and greeting is all VERY current SU products! Celebrate Today is the featured stamp set I used. The cloud background is easy to do, just punch out some scallop circles pop them together and sponge blue over them! Sky with clouds!!

Perfectly Rustics #29 - Masculine cards

 

We have some MALE FUN this time for you at Perfectly Rustics!! We all know that male cards and projects can sometimes be tricky but we want to inspire you to get creative and make something manly!!!

 

Here is my card, I've made another mustache (the one with the fringe scissors and the label punch) and popped it on top of the yummo Hello Honey DSP stripes from the Lullaby DSP pack!! The greeting is from Sketched birthday (such a versatile set) and as you can see that's about that!!

DIY PUNCH ART Mustaches {fancy Male cards}

 It's very important to make sure they look real!! hee he

Here I am trying on the Walrus!

I'm here again as promised to show you how to make your very own Punch art Mustaches!!! This all began when I was feeling much too impatient to wait for the brand new Mustache die featured in the New Stampin' Up! Catalogue!!! So I had a play and here is a selection of what I've come up with to DIY!!

These are the punches I used:

 

 Elegant butterfly

Bird builder

Decorative label

Now for what to do:

 Mustache #1: IMPERIAL

 Fold back the birds head and stick down,

(you need two) Then place side by side

Mustache #2: PETITE HANDLEBAR

This one uses the bird wing, trim some of the wing 

down a little like pictured above. 

Once you've done one then place on top of the other and follow the shape!

Mustache #3: CHEVRON

 butterfly punch

 Turn butterfly upside down and trim off smaller wings,

 then cut out little "head" piece

Mustache #4: ENGLISH

Decorative label

 

 I'm sure you've seen this trick, it's a little bracket when on it's side 

but flip it horizontally and you have a Fancy mo!

Mustache #5: WALRUS

Cut the scallop edgy bits off, then cut in half!

Use the wonderful new fringe scissors to finish it off!

 

 

Of course you can flip some of these ( like the top two on this card sample)

either way depending on the Mo you're after!!

Time to celebrate with a Punchart Mustache card!!

Have you seen??? Have you heard??? Have you got as excited as I am about the wonderful, brand spanking new Stampin' Up Catty!!!!!! YIPPEE!!!

 SO to kick off the celebrations of new goodies and inspiration filled pages I've come up with a card for a blokely bloke by using THIS idea,  playing with some Project Life stamps, Delish new DSP (moonlight) and my very own punch art MO!!!

 

Did you know that there is a very special new die in the 2014/2015 Stampin' Up! Catty?? A very trendy, totally groovy, perfect for some fun.... Mustache!!! Can't wait to get my hands on that!!!! BUT until my box of wonderfulness arrives I was in DESPERATE need of a Mo and so became my Punch art Mustache!!

All you need is a butterfly punch!!Don't stress if you can't quite work it out, I'll be back with some step by steps really soon!!Until then enjoy all that Stampin' Up! has to offer in their latest catty!! Whoo Hoo!!

Perfectly Rustics challenge #25 - Starburst

I'm super excited to think that we are up to challenge number 25!!! WOW that's super cool!! For this week at Perfectly Rustics we are encouraging you to make a card (or other creation) with a STARBURST!!! There are sooo many ways you can use starbursts in your projects! I made this one for my postie actually!!! He totally went out of his way to deliver me my new stampin' up goodies on a SATURDAY!!!! Totally amazing!!! He sure deserved a card, and a hug for that matter but I thought perhaps the card was enough!!  hee hee!!

To make this starburst you need some templates, just some rectangles cut on an angle, then place them on your card and spritz over!! (i used some basic black ink mixed with a little water for this card) Wait for it to dry and you have a very unique look!!

The stamp set used is Chalk talk and also the Starburst sayings (that's in the mini but I do know it's going over to the new catty!! YAY!!!)

Perfectly Rustics Challenge #18 - Hexagons

Time for another wonderful challenge at Perfectly Rustics!! YAY! This time we are playing with HEXAGONS!! Jayne came up with the idea so be sure to check out the other inspiration projects HERE!
My card is a male birthday card and when I think hexagons I think bees!! SO here is my bee card!

I loved the use of the soft colours and the stripes of the gorgeous grundge that work really great with the honeybee and with the honeycomb shapes!!

I even took time to stamp the inside!

So do join us this time, we would LOVE to see what wonderful things you do with hexagons!!

Dynamic Duos #85-Summer Starfruit and Garden Green (male birthday card)

Having fun with challenges this last week I found this colour combo at Dynamic Duos!! Now I'm not a lover of Garden green.... NOT AT ALL but I do love Summer starfruit so I thought I'd push myself and come up with something!! I got to thinking about what cards I need in the next few weeks and realized a male card is top of the list! That was helpful, men like green right??

I LOVE Hot air balloons, they are soooo, well, whimsical and fun, throw in some clouds (another absolute fav) with a retired embossing folder and the cupcake punch, some tickets from the same set as the balloon You're Amazing, a bit of sanding, a greeting (from the hostess set Postage collection) some extra balloons inside and you have the challenge card!!!! YIPPEE!!!

 

Using the good old garden green didn't hurt too much! It looks rather great, if I do say so myself!! (hee he)

Amazing Elephant {male card}

 

After my super crafty friend KIM showed me this new colour in on vellum technique I've been doing it to LOTS Of my cards!! OF course (sure I'm not the only one who runs with a new tech when shown!!!) And so I wanted to make a male card and use some of the very cool Autumn DSP in the current Mini. Here is what I came up with!

I'm sooo happy with how they turn out, they really have such a fabbo look about them! Do give this a go, I'm sure you'll love it too!

Blast Off - Spinner card

My super fun brother-in-law is like a big kid at heart! He really is wonderful and I thought with his recent birthday that a spinner card would be right up his alley!!
With Space on the brain with our current Unit study (SEE HERE) I picked up the Blast off stamp set and got to work making a "male" looking birthday spinner card.

 

 

I know that glitter is not the usual for guys but it screams stars and space to me so it was a must in my book!
My son Ezekiel helped me design the planets to go on, telling me that there HAD TO be a red spot on Venus to make it "right" and that the world (which I hand drew) needed to have all the countries.... I couldn't fit them all on!

 

I even decorated the inside of the card and markered TIM for the flag! Needless to say he LOVED the card and had great delight in spinning it over and over!! When he showed the rest of my family (at the family dinner) Allan pipped up and said
"Yeah I know it's called a Spinner card!!" then promptly said "I can't believe I know what it's called!!" HA!! We all roared with laughter!!! You just never know what things our fabbo hubbies are picking up when we talk "craft" to them!!

Male Backyard Basics Card {get well soon}

 

One of our dear friends has recently been quite unwell and yesterday he had some treatment to get him back on track, which so I've found out went well! YAY!!! :)
I wanted to make him a get well soon card and with new products to play with I went with the brand new set and matching framelets "Backyard Basics." The bee and the bird and the butterfly and well, the WHOLE set are all sooooo lovely and I'm looking forward to playing with the images more.
My "guy" friend is an avid card maker too so it puts the pressure on a little (well quite a lot to be honest) and so my mind got thinking on something with a little more pizazz!!

  

I just recently ordered in the cardstock feel Vellum (LOVE) and so stamped the bee on that and then on a new fav of natural cardstock called "Naturals White" rolled it through the Big shot for the perfect cut out image and then with a blender pen washed over the Early espresso to blend the colour and give it depth. Grab the honeycomb (after all bee's love honey!!) embossing folder, cut it out in random ways, add some extra popped up ones, stamp a greeting (another new HOSTESS set, so versatile!!) and you have a Male get well soon card!!
