Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge #315 - Sunshine Sayings stamp set

I can't believe that I've finally got around to joining in on the Just Add Ink fun!! WHoo HOO!! It's only taken ALL YEAR but here it is, my first entry for the year with the wonderful, talented ladies at JAI!!
I have some new goodies I was hanging to ink up and play with and a card that needed to be made for a lovely lady here in the Village! You could call her the Mother of Poatina, she is sooo special! So for a special lady there needed to be a special card! I used washi tape for the framelit greeting, the new copper twine for some delicate detail, faux suede delightful Dijon cardstock, a panel of shimmer white cardstock which I watercoloured with the Dijon then stamped the watercolour image (also from the Sunshine sayings set) in Cherry cobbler! Oh and my fav at the moment, the Gold glitter pen on the flower to highlight some "petals!!"
Hey I even stamped the inside too, added another framelit, this time the flower with the same copper washi tape and followed the greeting from "Love and Hugs... on one more year! Happy Birthday!" Wow this set has some super great sayings!!
The sketch was fun to work with, I've flipped it on the side and will certainly do this layout again!!
YAY, so there you have it! Thanks heaps for popping by and checking out my take on the challenge! Hopefully it won't be sooo long before I join in with the JAI gang again!

Shine On: Birthday cards!

I can't even remember the last time I held a stamp-a-stack..... at least not this year!! So when I saw THESE gorgeous, simple cards, full of fun and great for boys & girls then I knew I had to do some serious casing and have a get together!! I'm not sure if you've heard of the #i'mbringingbirthdaysback movement started by Shannon... story of all that HERE but it sure is a super reason to make cards, and then SEND THEM to those you love!! Who doesn't love some snail mail?? (even slower now with the recent changes but it's not called snail mail for nothing... RIGHT!!??)
SO check out my spin on the lovely Susan's design

If you live in Launceston and would like to join me, Thursday night 12th May, 8pm, contact me today to get your seat!! YAY for birthdays!!

Teenage boy card and diy gift!

When you are needing a cool teenage BOY card what do you do?? What is the first thing you KNOW that you will add, or the colour/s that you will choose?? I'm guessing that I'll be a pro at teenage boy and girls cards as the years unfold and my children grow older! This card was for Zeke's friend who was turning 13!!

We handmade a gift, this cool cushion for him and with the funky font that Zeke found I decided to continue with the theme and add that to the card! Blockhead Alphabet is the star, well the triangle of the card (now a retired set) and with some simple vellum for the number and twine the card was done!
The cushion was such a hit that Zeke was keen to have one also.... guess what he got for Easter? (Instead of LOADS of chocolate!) His own "Wake up and Be Awesome" cushion!!

Sprinkles of Life for 40th birthdays!

Did you know that I've been celebrating 40th birthdays lately!?? Turns out that mine is just around the corner (May 25th to be exact!!) and so many of the cards I've been making have had the BIG 40 stamped on them. I always like to work with a theme and so the first thing that comes to mind is to make a card using the recipients fav colour!! Here are two 40th birthday cards I've made with the same layout and look but in different colours using the very versatile Sprinkles of Life stamp set.

Loving the new glitter brush featured in the Occasional catty page 24!

The cupcakes are sooo easy to watercolour,
especially if you stamp the image on the White Shimmer paper.
Then you MUST add some pink sprinkles to finish it off!

I've used some toothpicks for the toppers and added some fun numbers from a retired Project Life kit (which can be purchased in the clearance rack right now!!) I like the look of the vellum in the background which is easily stuck on with some mini glue dots!! Adding a touch of ribbon and the greeting from the set and you have a fun, cute cupcake card ready!!

Sale-a-bration, Happy New Year and A Nice Cuppa!

It's a NEW year! It's time to celebrate and I'm back (FINALLY) after some wonderful holidaying and moving and settling and relaxing and enjoying NOT being at my computer!!
Hopefully you already know that we are right in the midst of Sale-a-bration. It's a fabbo time of the Stampin' Up! year when for every $90 you spend you receive FREE PRODUCT!!!!
It's also the start of a new Occasions Mini catty too, LOADED with the most gorgeous goodies you will want to get your hands on!! SO with my oldest daughter turning 14 Friday I made this card for her with some new stamps to my collection.

The hearts you can softly see in the background are from the A Nice Cuppa stamp set which also includes that super cute greeting.... YOU are TEA-riffic!!

The BIG, bold JUST FOR YOU is a SAB goodie (which you can earn FREE) from the Botanicals for you stamp set. Soooo lovely that little set is!!
Ohh and that stunning glitter pool party ribbon is in the new mini (page 9) which just adds a nice little sparkle to the card.
I can honestly say that this is the first thing I've made ALL year, well since November actually..... hoping to get back into the swing of things soon!!
Sending many Happy New Year Hugs

Cards & Tags #1 - Celebrate Today

We have just celebrated 3 birthdays here in our family, so the crafting desk has been busy! I love to make pressies look really inviting to open with all the twine and ribbon and of course a tag to match!
Here is the card and tag I made for Allan's birthday (my super man!) I had some wonderful scraps of DSP on my desk and was inspired to make a hot air balloon with them, after all they are MY favourite!!

The Polaroid film frame is a retired goodie, confetti white cardstock as well as the DSP, but the balloon stamp, washi tape and greeting is all VERY current SU products! Celebrate Today is the featured stamp set I used. The cloud background is easy to do, just punch out some scallop circles pop them together and sponge blue over them! Sky with clouds!!
Look out for my next card and tag combo soon!

Just Add Ink #258 - A colour challenge (Alice in Wonderland)

I've been having the most wonderful holiday so far and with half a week to go there is still time to hit my crafting room before school goes back!
So with time on my hands and fun colour challenges to join in on at Just Add Ink I was ready to play along! It's one of my dearest friends birthdays today and I needed a cool card to post for her. I bought some really fun little book marks from Reliquaire in Latrobe on the weekend and that started me off thinking to go with the Alice in Wonderland theme..... FUN!!!
 JAI #258
SO with the colours from JAI and Alice in my head here is what I came up with.....
The rose template is a die cut in the Artisan Embellishment Kit....
soooo pretty and perfect for Alice in Wonderland!!

I had such a blast making the little "drink me" ticket and the Queen of hearts card! The rabbit and teapot stamp are current Stamin' Up! stamps and the gorgeous rich ribbon from the current Artisan embellishment kit too! Must say these colours are pretty fabbo to play with .... must remember that! Thanks for popping by, hope you like!!
