Just Add Ink Challenge #23

Paper is one of those things that you can easily become a collector of! I know many a fabulous girl that buys packets and sheets of beautiful, gorgeous paper just to add to there already 100's of pages at home! Then when it comes time to use it..... well it's just TOO pretty to cut up!!
I'm sure you've all been there........ I know I have!! :0)
So with the challenge at JUST ADD INK to use DSP, I pulled out one of my favourite packs and reluctantly but in the end happily cut a bit of this and a bit of that and made myself a fun, happy, sunshine filled card!
I'm trying to work out how to use a brayer, so here I made some green grassy looking background with the lovely blue sky! I LOOOVE how the brayer doesn't go into those fabulous little stitch marks, it's a really great effect!
Here's a close up:

Even the wing is some DSP!
I hope that this post finds you happy and chirping "HELLO!!"

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #74

It's not every day you get to make a "get well soon" card, I think it's a nice occasion to send a card and would love to do it more often! Not that I want my dear friends and family to be sick... but... well you know what I mean!!
So when I heard that the wonderful Mr Green (Andrew - Carli's fab hubbie!) was down and out it was time to look for a sketch and make a little cheer him up card!

It's been a good while since I've had time to join in on one of Karen's sketch's so I was sooo excited to see that this week was simple. The set that I used is a really old retired set, but I can't part with it, and the greeting is really cute!! So with a that and some non-stampin up ribbon which actually came in the mail wrapped around a present for Zeke (thanks heaps lovely Ness! We all loved the gifts and the ribbon's too!! Huge hugs and love to you!!) this was the result....

Who would have thought these colours could hang out together!! HE HE!! Still I think it works, do YOU??

Best be off quite time is nearly over, more school work to do!!

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #28

Good morning!
How is your week going thus far?? Hopefully full of warm toasty days (whether that be due to the weather or being near fires!!) yummy food, great company and some little time for you!! :0)
I was able to play with Keesh's latest challenge again and may I say that these somewhat not often used colours were quite fun to play with! It's not every day you put orange and purple together but these are CHALLENGES so here is my card

My wonderful, talented friend Heather (HUGE WAVES AND HUGS TO YOU DEAR HEATH!) just recently taught "ME" (yes it was very cool to be shown by my best mate how to make something!) how to make these amazing paper flowers! LOOOOVVVVE THEM!! As I couldn't remember the site she showed me I came across this blog LOLLYCHOPS - (SUCH A FUN AND WONDERFUL BLOG) so you can see how to do it too! Do give them a try, they really are SUPER EASY and add that something extra I think to your projects!
Then with a bit of tearing and some spritzing my work/fun was done!

As I was looking at it on my shelf I knew Exactly who to send it to! A very special lady Leanne! She loves purple and her daughter Sarah LOVES orange!! How cool, they call them their signature colours! Hello to you sweet girls!! HUGE WAVES AND HUGS!!
Don't forget the DEALS OF THE WEEK which end tonight!! Other than that do have a terrific Tuesday!

All about the presentation

This month for stamp club I made up some assorted tags. We all give gifts to people that we love and for me presentation is pretty much everything! You wouldn't eat what could be a scrummy, yummy meal if it was presented horribly!!! I was given the most amazingly wrapped pressie for my birthday not sooo long ago, it was a gift in itself!! I loved IT!!

my beautifully wrapped pressie from Tammy,
soooo love those pine cones and the brown paper and the twine and the ribbon!!

So with that in mind I set to work designing male, female and childrens tags. While looking around other great blogs I came across this great little case by KEESH which I used to hold them. I kept it very simple so that my wonderful ladies got the whole project done before midnight!! They all did super duper and were very happy!!

I used my crafty little cutter kit, the one that has a rougher, (you know like a bone folder) a scorer, small cutting blade and then my personal fav the PERFORATED tool!!! All for only $33.95!! it' such a great ready to go kit!

The tags were made as one sheet and then perforated into 4!! LOVE IT!! With the children's ones we did it ALL with the BIG SHOT! I really like the velum, it adds a fun element to them!

I still need to show you what we did last month..... stay tuned!!
Have a super wonderful day,

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge #27

How cool is the amount of sketches that are out there at the moment for challenges! This card I made the same morning as my Just add Ink one but as you can see just changed the colours a little. The sketch is from over at Keesh's and WOW OH WOW you should check out her amazing video on making a side wall, and her water colouring.... it's out of this world!!!!
For my card I cracked open a BRAND new set that I bought in from the US, it's been sitting on my shelf patiently waiting to make it's appreance.... well the wait was over!

I even got my white gel pen out and did some FAUX stitching, I'm really happy with how simple it is yet really striking I think with the fun and detailed DSP.
Well that's it for me for today, hopefully I'll be back again soon, it's the last day of holiday's so my normal routine will be back. Not sure how much blogging I'll get in till next weekend.... ummm only time will tell!

Ohhh baby it's cold outside

One of the delights of Winter here in Tassie is the amazing frosts, followed by the most clear, crisp days of sunshine and Winter blue skies! Currently outside my little thermostat tells me it's -1.1!! This morning is the second white covering for this winter and I had to share it with you...

This is the closest thing we get that resembles snow here in Launceston and I just LOVE how white everything looks with the sparkle of the sun on those amazing icicles,

my finger got rather chilly etching this on the trampoline!

Hope your day is sunny and warm inside and out and that your heart glows with love and laughter,

Just Add Ink Challenge #21

I've done it!! It's only been 7 weeks since I last joined the Just Add ink team and played along with their groovy challenges!!
This week it's a sketch and so here is my take on it,

Here is a close up of the sponging I added in the middle and also I "Rock N' Rolled" it on the Rich razzleberry ink pad after inking it up on the Close to Cocoa, just to add some colour on the tips of those lovely petals!
I really love Boho Backgrounds and forget just how cute the words are in that set, so I blew the HUGE amount of dust of them and put the happy fellow's to work!

Thanks so much for calling in, leave a comment and tell me what makes you happy, I'd love to hear from you!

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #26

Yay I've done it!! Entered a challenge that is! Man it feels like a LOOONNNG time since I've joined in one of these so I'm most excited!
Here are the colours from the wonderful Keesh...

So with a new addition to our friends lives, being in the form of a beautiful little baby girl, a card was surely needed!!

I originally got the idea for a window from HERE which is COMPLETELY AMAZING in EVERY WAY with the absolute talent of the lovely Kristina!!! But of course I didn't have all that, so I had to... well make something else up.
Out comes my square punch, this makes a nice neat frame!
(of course if you look closely, actually probably not too close you can see that it's not neat or really perfect by any means!) To make the curtains I just cut the same size c/s decorated it with the polka dot stamp from Big Bold Birthday and then cut out one side, folded and copied the shape for the other (like you would to make a butterfly!) Score the bottom to create a ledge and there you have it!!!

close up of the window, the card stock bows and the pretty little flowers
My next challenge is to do the sweet Sunday sketch.... let's see how tomorrow goes!
Thanks for the visit!

Our Holiday {part 2}

So here we go with the next chapter of our family holiday!
WARNING: this is a really, REALLY, REALLY long one so get comfy peoples!!

On Sunday we had set aside time to see the sites of Sydney!

Me at the really cool fountain thingy at Darling Harbour

It was one of the things we were really looking forward to, to actually see the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour bridge in REAL LIFE!! The kids have seen it sooo many times on Playschool and the like that it was a MUST before leaving. You can imagine our dis-pleasement (Hey I've made up a new word!! He he :0) when we woke and the rain was coming down! Now in the days prior this had been the same but it had cleared on and off (every time Allan went out and about actually) so we thought that it would be the same today! We soon found out that this was NOT going to be the case!! BOTHER!!
Armed with multiply umbrella's (2 of which we, Carli and I bought at Memento Mall last convention - COOL!) and our coats we headed out to SEE THE HARBOUR!! We firstly got on the monorail, this was fun, the kids filled me in on all the info as they had travelled on it already. Then we got to the Harbour and had to walk around to find where we caught the ferry to take us past Sydney's two most famous land marks!

Allan at the undercover dock waiting for the ferry

With it still raining we walked for (what seemed like ages with 3 tired kiddies, a baby asleep in my arms and 3 adults who by this time were wishing we could leave!! BUT we HAD TO SEE THE TOURIST ATTRACTIONS..... HAD TO!!!!!!) Finally we found the right dock! YAY we were under cover and didn't have to wait very long which was super!

on the ferry checking out the Sydney Harbour Bridge

It was great to finally see the bridge! The kids studied bridges and what different types there are before leaving for our holiday so this was exciting. It really is HUGE isn't it??!!

Say Cheese!

Then we spotted the Opera House!! It looked GREY!?! I thought it was White!!! The colour change, so I found out, was because of the amazingly delightful weather (sarcasm at it's best!) and on a bright sunny day it definitely is a white colour! We got off the ferry and walked some more, (did I mention in the rain!) to the really cool paver's that lead up to the Opera House.
Standing on the really cool paver's with Opera House behind

They look like mini opera houses themselves, all done in a arched pattern-very clever design. This is where we gathered to have a photo.....
Still we wanted more, we wanted to walk the steps!!! Carli took Esther back to shelter and the rest of us marched on forth to the steps!! Up to the Top and back down again (didn't have our camera here, bother!!)

Enjoying a cuddle on the ferry

Once re-grouping it was UNANIMOUS to get the heck out of there and hit the road ASAP!! By the end of all the walks the sky did actually clear so we took one last photo and headed for the car.

The drive to Nowra was good, though LONG! We had multiply stops including one for food, and then one for Esther who had decided at that point that enough was ENOUGH and she wanted out!!!!! We tried rocking her to sleep outside while the fabulous Mrs Green did leap frog over the railings!! (this is one of my best bits of the trip!) Count on Mrs Green (Carli) to put the FUN in a situation that from the outside looks grim and frustrating!!! She had them doing zig zag courses, I even saw her flip a CART WHEEL!! (you go girl!) then the leap frog..... which as age would have it (though I'm 5 years older!) had her hit her knee causing AN INSTANT BRUISE!! (NOT FUNNY!! well just a little bit!!) Back to the car, Esther was FAR to interested in the laughter and surroundings to even think about sleeping now!!!
Let me put it this way... we had all hoped that we'd land at the Greens by, well 3-4ish!! Instead after only leaving the harbour at after 2pm we FINALLY arrived at 5.45pm!!! YAY we were there!!!!
Emily being lifted by Zeke and William being lifted by Hannah!

It was hugs all round and straight into cooking our (let's fill up on LOADS of veggies after eating LOADS of take-away) pumpkin Soup!

Over the course of the week we did LOADS of things.... most of which was just simply relaxing and enjoying hanging out with our wonderful friends.

Monday: was a home day...

Relaxing in the Hammock with Mrs Green (Callum is the youngest of the Green family)

Tuesday: was my 34th birthday.... I got these AWESOME pressies,

Ugg boots from Allan, can you believe they have a paisley design!! Perfect for a stamper like me! This wonderful cook book from The Greens. (as they were the ones who got us HOOKED on Master Chef last year when we visited!)

We went to a water front park and had scrummy vanilla number biscuits (Carli's specialty!) and delicious Lemon cupcakes as my b'day cake! YUMMO!! That night we had all the kiddies looked after (altogether there's 7) and the 4 of us adults went out for tea! It was completely wonderful and the food was very, VERY scrummy!!

Having sweets at Tuscany Wood Fired Restaurant

Wednesday: there was MORE RAIN and so we went to the local aquatic center. Here Esther had her first swim!! On this day too she rolled over for the first time!!! Then the arvo was filled with making houses!!

Ok guys let's BUILD!

Mrs Green (again here comes the fun!) cooked up house panels and the kids happily decorated and made there own house to then eat for dessert that night, and the next night and I think the night after that... he he

look at perfect those biscuits are.. and those cute children!

Thursday: Allan, the kids and I headed to Stocklands at Shell Harbour in which we did some shopping. I got these super great bargains......

Bargain for the day had to be those boots: only $19.95!!

Friday we (Carli, ALL the kiddies and I) were taken to an old playing place that she used to go as a child. It was a peaceful trickling creek that was wonderful to play in, fall in and be greeted with many mosquitoes too!! It was also FRIDAY FAMILY FUN DAY!!! (say this in a loud radio like voice..) Yes Friday's are BIG days in the Torrents' household and to join up with the Greens was FABBO!!
Callum and Sophia were never far from Esther's side

So what does FRIDAY FAMILY FUN DAY involve? (again with load radio like voice!!) It means home made pizza for tea and a movie!! On the BIG SCREEN baby!! The Green's have made a "parents room" which has a HUGE projector to watch your very own movies in!! It's totally like going to the cinema only BETTER!! It took nearly all afternoon to prep and make the pizza's and in saying that we COMPLETELY OVER CATERED!!!We had potato and garlic, Meat lovers, Satay chicken, Hawaiian, William's favourite (ham and cheese with egg on top! Yes I know interesting indeed but don't knock it till you've tried it!) and lastly the good old Supreme!! Ummmm they were all so good but we hardly put a dent in them so I'm sure the Green's will be eating them for the next 2-3 Friday's to come! he he!!

Saturday: was our last day... We just did odd jobs, packed ready for the early rise (6am on Sunday) and then because it was raining, YES AGAIN!! We sat and watched a Master Chef marathon!! It was sooo cool! All the episodes we had taped through the week we sat and watched!

Sunday: Left our dear friends and ended our holiday. We left bright and early and Andrew kindly drove us all to the Sydney airport. It was a much faster drive then the one last week and we made great time to catch the plane... One of my other favourite things was that Andrew was always sooo happy to cuddle Esther! Especially at dinner time when she was unsettled and we were eating! It really blessed me to see a guy like that!

One more hug before we go...

So there you have it! Our great holiday!! Wow now really did you make it to the bottom, reading EVERY word?? Or just skip through the photo's??? Either way I'm happy to have shared our yearly family holiday with you all!! Thanks for popping in, I look forward to posting some cards in the next few days....
Until then,
Smiles Sharnee :0)

Convention 2010 & {part 1} of our holiday

I know that you have ALL been waiting (very patiently I might add) for my news and pictures from Convention Sydney 2010!! Well wait no longer!!
Now before we get started it will be a long one so in the words of my fellow tea lover Sophie (from That Vintage) let's pour our favourite brew and sit and chat awhile.....

We left on Thursday 19th and headed our way to Sydney!! We were all soooo excited about seeing Mrs Green (Carli) and all the wonderful things like the harbour and the bridge and the opera house too. Our accommodation seemed great, enough room for us all and very nicely decorated!
Sophia and Esther having a rest

I had my very first managers supper on the Thursday night which was very special!! It was a great time, chatting to other demo's and enjoying a delicious pastry selection of sweets and the most amazingly scrummy hot chocolate that you could imagine!! It was served in a fabulous Share a cup mug (if you could call it that!) and at the end of the night we all received one!!! SOOOOO COOL!!

That night however it all went really yucky!!!! At 12.30am the fire alarm went off, we had 3 very scared and unhappy kiddies and one wonderful baby who didn't cry a peep!! We were told to evacuate and so we did, down 12 flights of stairs in our jimmie jams the kids, Allan, Carli and me! Once we were given the all clear we went back up the 12 flights of stairs. The kids however were very, VERY scared and didn't want to take their fingers out of their ears!!! Allan finally got them settled and asleep to have it happen ALL OVER AGAIN only 5 minutes after our precious children being asleep! The time now is 2.30am (approx) so off we go again, down, down the multitude of steps, outside and waiting in our jimmie jams in the cold!! Thankfully we were given the all clear AGAIN and so headed back to bed! I think the kids managed to get about 2hrs sleep before it was wake up time!! That wasn't the way we had planned to start our family holiday!! I must say though we were soooo blessed!! Can you imagine if there really WAS A FIRE and we had lost all our things!?? There would have been no convention and no STUFF!! So Praise God for the good side of it!my swaps

Off to Convention.... it was great, as it is every year!! I, being very sleep deprived and having a baby certainly made things a little more tricky but hanging out with my super amazing friend Carli was absolutely WONDERFUL in every way!!!! Swapping with other's is a buzz also and then meeting people whom I've only chatted on-line (like the lovely Sarah-Jane... WAVING!!) was really, really fab!!

Esther was FANTASTIC (after her first plane ride and such a horrid sleep) and the ideas that I got from assorted talented presenters were AWESOME!
Carli in the main room - check out the amount of tables!!

Back at the hotel, Allan had just got back from having fun with the kids at the Powerhouse Museum and with-in 10 minutes the fire alarm went off again, so my super, amazing Husband had to go through the drill for the 3rd time!! As you can guess they were not coping well!! Sadly at that point we decided that we should leave..... we did not want to go through that AGAIN, so we looked at other options..... of course what we know now with 4 little treasures is that accommodation is hard to find with so many...... after much thought and prayer and far too many phone calls, we decided to stay and take the chance....PRAISE GOD it didn't happen again!! YAY!

Hannah, Sophia and Ezekiel on their outing with Daddy

Saturday at Convention was GREAT! Carli, Esther and I enjoyed beautiful sunshine (one of the only days the sun made an appearance in the week!) for lunch and listened to the Jazz/Blues that was playing in the Darling Harbour!!

Ohhh what bliss, it was so, so fabulous!! LOVED IT!!!

love this photo

Then the award dinner!

WOW, OH WOW, OH WOW WEE!!! Carli and I arrived walked up to the door and were greeted by these cool guys in long trench coats snapping away on their camera's!! They mentioned something like
"look it's Kylie and Danni Minogue!" (yes they could have chosen some different actresses I agree!! still they are very famous and dress well!! he he)
Then they ask us who we are dressed by.... it was such a buzz... with beaming faces my lovely friend and I enter into the room on A RED CARPET!!!! Yes it was soooooooo cool!! We were then stopped again by another gentleman who asked to take our photo.... at this point there is NO WAY that the smile is leaving our faces!!! We proceed along the RED CARPET to be greeted by huge cheers and claps and whistles from the crowd!! Who was the crowd?? None other than the great girls from the SU headquarters and Aaron Scott the HEAD head honcho for Australia and Shannon, super trainer from the US. I ran up to them all and hugged them with glee!!

The very glamorous Shannon

Once getting our breath we found our seat, which had been saved by the super wonderful Bron and listened to a fantastic band who was... wait for it...playing JAZZ!!!

Wonderful Bron and me

We simply couldn't be happier!!! :0) Then you should have seen the table decorations...

WOW WEE!!! Can you imagine these lighting up each table (at least 30) in a darkened room with the striking black table cloths??? Yep it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! So AMAZING!!!!!!! :0)

Smiling with the lovely SJK'S! Sarah Klass and Sarah-Jane

I received an award for sales again this year by reaching over $30,000 which was a great effort with having a precious bundle and all! I was given 2 BRAND NEW stamp sets that will be released in the up and coming 2010/11 New CATTY! (YAY bring that on!!)

So there you have it, is your cuppa all gone?? Did you need a refill?? It has been a little long winded hasn't it!! he he!
Well I've enjoyed telling you all of my experience of convention twenty ten! I'll be back soon with PART 2 of our holiday!!
Thanks for popping in,
Smiles Sharnee :0)
