Mother's Day gift Idea {bird with nest on vintage jar} and SUO #69

There are soooo many amazing, clever people out there that make amazing, gorgeous things!! Last year I saw this idea at Shelli's blog HERE and knew that one day I'd have to give it a try......

Of course the hunt for old jars here in Aussie doesn't seem as easy as our USA friends but my Mum is super great at garage sales and markets and found me some old Fowler's jars!! YAY!! So with this weeks challenge over at SUO being anything Sizzix, I jumped in to show you this project!!
It took me a few goes to work out how to make the bird (Elegant bird Bigz) and stuff it so it looked full and more "life-like" but in the end I think it turned out quite well! I made the nest out of canary breeding material and glued that to a Scallop circle (Scallop circle Bigz)

I love this saying from the set From the Heart, it speaks to me greatly in this busy world we live in and thought it would be a perfect addition to the jar. (added to the fact that I've used the Apothecary accents, another Sizzix die to cut it out!)

I've left it empty so as the lovely recipient can put inside whatever she likes..... perhaps a photo, some chocolates, assorted nature pieces, ribbon..... it's up to her!
I'm certainly making one for me this Mother's Day, I can't wait to see it on my desk and fill it with..... ummmm something wonderful!

Tea for Two scrapbooking page {and two challenges}

You know when you take a photo and you think to yourself...."I can't wait to scrap that PICTURE!!" Well this one of Ezekiel and Sophia was totally one of those photo's. We've been studying Nursery Rhymes this first term (see HERE) and as a field trip we went out and acted out the rhyme. I asked for a picture of Ezekiel and Sophia and was sooo touched as a mum to see the love that is shared between them in this moment. The way they are hugging makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, these guys don't tend to get along as well as say Hannah and Zeke so it's awesome to see.
For the month of April in my Paper Dolls stamp club I'm focusing on the Tea for Two DSP. I also saw that the Creative Scrappers have a fabbo layout at the moment so decided to combine the layout with the theme that Just Add Ink has also for this month being "siblings"
Here is the layout sketch and here is my take on it......

A close up of "Jack and Jill" rolling down the hill.
I used the circles in the sketch to add more pictures
and the embellishments are from the lovely Artisan kit.

 I chose the Crumb Cake DSP pack with the music on it
and then wrote out the nursery rhyme along the top and bottom.
Sponging the edges and Spritzing is always a fav on my projects too.
I can't wait to see what great challenge JAI will have next and awesome layout Creative Scrappers will have too, it certainly is a wonderful kick start to making a page come together!
Thanks for popping by, be sure to say HI!

As we draw closer to the end of a stampin up catty year we can look forward to many NEW and EXCITING things to come!! One of them, this coming July is the New Storage containers for Wood mount stamps! You can pop them in your shelf right next to the clear mounts and they'll look very much at home! Want to put your old sets into the new boxes but don't have the groovy "what's inside sticker?" Well you can even down load that so they'll all look uniform and perfectly organized!
WOW you've gotta be happy about that!! Check it out and tell me what you think?

Happy Birthday Chalkboard Technique {yes one more!}

As you might well have guessed I've had a ball with this ON TREND new Chalkboard Technique. It really is sooo much fun and totally fits the rustic theme I love sooo much! To not have to worry about little embossing flecks on my card front cause it just adds to the effect really makes me smile and the sponging the card stock is always a fav thing for me to do as well!
So here is the card that actually started it all off for me, I made this for my very lovely friend KIM for her birthday last month. Kim always takes note of backgrounds (went with the Woodgrain embossing folder) and does like to have greetings "just so," so for her I pulled out my stamp-a-ma-jig!!!

Before doing a larger word board like this one it's best to stamp it on some scrap to see if you're happy with the layout and the spacing. Once you've done that then take it to your black card stock.
I'm really loving this sweet little rose trim (from the Seasonal mini) and the vintage buttons, adding them to the side I think finished it all off nicely!
Tell me have you played with this technique yet???
Hope your week is starting off to be a wonderful one,
