Just Add ink scrap #19 Monochromatic challenge

I do love to try and join in on the monthly challenges that the fabbo team over at JAI have for scrap booking! Oh how I'm loving getting my photo's scrapped and ready for my calendar or just simply my albums!!
For this month we are to do a page with monochromatic colours! Now I know that you can use any colour and just stick to that but I decided to go with the classic Black and white (well in this case Vanilla) to work wonderfully with some snow pictures we took a few weeks back.
It was such a fun, fabulous time we had in the snow this year. We went to the Central Highlands of Tassie, near the Great Lake and Liawenee and it was flat and warm and totally wonderful in every  way!!!!!

The title was made by half stamping the letter in black then silver, I actually saw this awesome idea for a title HERE, in fact the page is inspired from the very clever Wilner over at iheartblog.... AMAZING scrapping to be seen there!!!
I used the groovy Rotary stamp here with some rhinestone bling
Snow flakes were made with the retired doily punch, and that sparkle you can see (hopefully) there on the "first snow" flag is with the Illuminate stamp pad!! Very cool silvery, sparkly ink pad!! My first time in using it and I'm pretty happy it's joined my stamp pad collection!
The DSP is Modern Medley and I learnt that if you want balance in a page then do it in thirds!! Great tip!
I hope you like my take on the challenge, (if you'd like to see more of our day out go over to my family blog HERE) I certainly had heaps of fun putting this page together!!

Perfectly Rustics challenge #3

The time has passed by again for the next challenge over at Perfectly Rustics! Jayne has come up with another sketch from one of her wonderful cards (before she hurt her hand!) I was in desperate need for 2 baby boy cards (dear little treasures were born at least 2 months ago.... oh dear!!!) so with the sketch and some fabbo new goodies this is what I created!

At our church there is a block of land with some sheep on it, they have just had baby lambs and they are the black and white variety!! (Suffolk breed actually, thanks google!!) I love the look of the little lamb, it's nice to have a change rather than leaving him white.

The DSP is the very lovely Modern Medley, colours used are Pistachio Pudding and Marina mist. The die shapes are from the Chalk talk framelits. Beautiful soft very vanilla seam binding ribbon, some polka dots with the embossing folder, stitching and black embossed sentiment (with the baby stamped in the sweet little Simply Serif Mini Alphabet) and you have a fun baby card (FINALLY!!!!)

I hope the long wait for my card is worth the wait and the very special Mum's love it!!
Do check out Kim and Jayne's cards, they are sure to inspire you to get those stamps out playing!!

Blast Off - Spinner card

My super fun brother-in-law is like a big kid at heart! He really is wonderful and I thought with his recent birthday that a spinner card would be right up his alley!!
With Space on the brain with our current Unit study (SEE HERE) I picked up the Blast off stamp set and got to work making a "male" looking birthday spinner card.

I know that glitter is not the usual for guys but it screams stars and space to me so it was a must in my book!
My son Ezekiel helped me design the planets to go on, telling me that there HAD TO be a red spot on Venus to make it "right" and that the world (which I hand drew) needed to have all the countries.... I couldn't fit them all on!

I even decorated the inside of the card and markered TIM for the flag! Needless to say he LOVED the card and had great delight in spinning it over and over!! When he showed the rest of my family (at the family dinner) Allan pipped up and said
"Yeah I know it's called a Spinner card!!" then promptly said "I can't believe I know what it's called!!" HA!! We all roared with laughter!!! You just never know what things our fabbo hubbies are picking up when we talk "craft" to them!!

Scrap and Music sketch challenge #6 - Baby I love your way

One of the blogs I follow always leaves me itching to do a scrap page (HERE) and get my precious memories "done up" in some fun paper and embellishments and then do it again and again!!!
This time when I visited I continued hopping along to a site that Amanda designs for called Scrap & Music! The song really got my attention and with some brand new pictures of my precious little Sapphire Lizzie (as she is affectionately called) I was totally inspired to get some scrapping done before the holidays were over and I was in teaching mode again.......

I was able to get my hands on some of the new and very yummy DSP from the Venetian Romance suite (thanks HEAPS Sarah!!!) and with some of the latest in-colours from Stampin up I came up with this....
It was super fun to work with not only a sketch but also a song!!! It helped HEAPS with my title (which is something that comes tricky at times) and the words for my journalling too!! YAY!

For some of my embellishments I added the new flower stamp from Backyard Basics and water coloured it in, some vintage buttons, (also new) glittery hearts and the chevron look is done using a background stamp in the Gorgeous Grunge set. Then with my re-inkers I dripped ink straight onto the page and blew it with a straw!
Lastly I added some of the images from the Lovely Romance set. I hope you like my take on this new challenge site for me and thanks oodles for popping on over!!

Spot the Mosaic Madness {challenge at still addINKtive}

It's been quite a while since I've joined in with a challenge over at still addINKtive and with the theme being Mosaic Madness I was keen to play along!
I've been wanting to scrap some photo's of our BIG trip (now 2 years ago) and especially of the whale tour we went on. The Island Indigo and Pool party in the Quatrefancy Speciality DSP I thought was perfect for such a photo page!

There were far too many pictures I wanted to include but brought it down to my 2 favourite whale shots and one of my fabbo hubbie and I enjoying this once in a lifetime experience!!!
(A dream come true for me and if you'd like to read more about it go to my family blog HERE!)

I also used the co-ordinating stamp set and punch to add some embellishments and sparkly rhinestones to shine like the amazing water! I made some faux ribbon with a stamped image on a strip of Island indigo and then pleated it up under the whale stamp (now retired)

I'm really happy with how it's come up and am enjoying re-living the memories of that wonderful trip!
Have you ever been on a whale cruise?? Sooo hope I can do it again!!
Be sure to check out the other awesome entries to this fun challenge, thanks Bron for the cool inspiration!

Male Backyard Basics Card {get well soon}

One of our dear friends has recently been quite unwell and yesterday he had some treatment to get him back on track, which so I've found out went well! YAY!!! :)
I wanted to make him a get well soon card and with new products to play with I went with the brand new set and matching framelets "Backyard Basics." The bee and the bird and the butterfly and well, the WHOLE set are all sooooo lovely and I'm looking forward to playing with the images more.
My "guy" friend is an avid card maker too so it puts the pressure on a little (well quite a lot to be honest) and so my mind got thinking on something with a little more pizazz!!

I just recently ordered in the cardstock feel Vellum (LOVE) and so stamped the bee on that and then on a new fav of natural cardstock called "Naturals White" rolled it through the Big shot for the perfect cut out image and then with a blender pen washed over the Early espresso to blend the colour and give it depth. Grab the honeycomb (after all bee's love honey!!) embossing folder, cut it out in random ways, add some extra popped up ones, stamp a greeting (another new HOSTESS set, so versatile!!) and you have a Male get well soon card!!

What do you think? Have you ever made a Male get well soon card? Any tips on what you like to do??
With only a few more days of holidays left I'm hoping that my craft table sees a little more action before we're back to it next week!

Perfectly Rustics challenge #2 - a scrapbook sketch

It's time for another challenge over at Perfectly Rustics!! This fortnight we are doing a sketch for a scrapbook page. It was drawn up by the very lovely Jayne!! Thanks Jayne!!
I need to get started onto a "your 10 years" book for my son's birthday coming up in Oct, so I did my very first page for that!! YAY!!

I used the This and That Epic DSP and Washi tape with the co-ordinating paper clips and some Gorgeous Grunge stamping in the background with Basic Grey!

The words here are also from the DSP, they say
Insight, Adventurous and Open Minded.

It doesn't have a lot going on in this page (which honestly I'm still struggling with) but it's for a boy and flowers or ribbon didn't seem to be the right embellishment!!! Ummmmmm I hope the other pages for Zeke's album aren't all as plain.........
Do you like more simple pages with your scrap booking???
Be sure to pop on over (HERE) and see what the other design team have come up with and enter your own page! We'd all love to see it!

"Hello Lovely" Brand new catty!!

Today marks a very exciting day in the world of stamping up customers (and Demo's) EVERYWHERE!! We have a brand new catty!!! Yippee!!!! Sooooooo totally awesome!!!
There are many a wonderful stamp set to add to your wish list, amazing embellishments and ribbons, DSP and fabulous new in-colours!!! Ohhhhh it's sooooooo wonderful :)
So to show off some of it's loveliness I have a scrap book page I've copied right out of the catty, Page 20 (click HERE) you'll notice the very groovy new suite "Soho Subway"

I love the colour combo of this suite, Island indigo, Early espresso, Very vanilla, Summer starfruit and a new personal fav Crisp Cantaloupe!! YUMMY!

I used the new DSP Soho Subway and some new stamps from the set Hello, lovely!!! Some stitching with my trusty sewing machine, a warm my heart and make me smile photo of my super hubbie and I taken on my birthday last month, the date stamped with the new Rotary stamp and there you have it!

I love the inspiration that FLOWS from the pages of a new catty, the things to try, the cards to make, the creative juices to get creating!!!
So to the new catty I say..... "Hello Lovely!!"

Perfectly Rustic's Challenge {new site} #1

My dear Friend Kim (from Wet chook productions) with her fabbo hubbie Colin (see him HERE) had been talking for awhile about getting a challenge site up and running! My wonderful group of Stampin' Up! demonstrator ladies (known as my other "family") is called Perfectly Rustics and so that's the name of this very new, (hugely exciting) challenge site!!!
Jayne, Kim and I are looking forward to creating and putting together lots of ideas and projects to get you inspired and wanting to craft right along with us!!
Even now I'm still in a bit of shock that it's actually happening, I'm designing for a challenge site...... YIPPEE!!!! WOW SOOOO cool!!!! I feel very honored to be asked by Kim to join in and I hope that you will join in too, on the fortnightly challenges that we come up with for you :)
So without further ado, here is my project for our very first challenge, It's a sketch by the very clever Kim that looks like this....
and now for my card that looks like this.....
I've been playing with the new colour combo's with the New Catty starting TODAY!!! (more excitement and Yippee's!!) This one is inspired from the Gingham Garden Suite with the combo of Daffodil delight, Island Indigo, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Pear Pizazz and Whisper White.

I've stamped the Pleasant Poppies in stazon and water-coloured the image with my Aqua pen, then adding some highlights with the corresponding markers. The sky background is done by first wetting the watercolour paper and then adding the ink, in this case Island Indigo.
Some of the new Washi tape (gingham garden) and the greeting from My friend stamp set and there you have it!
Make sure you check out the other fabbo design team's creations HERE and join in and show us what you can do with this sketch!
Can't wait to pop on over to leave some comment love, until then
