Mother's Day gift Idea {bird with nest on vintage jar} and SUO #69
There are soooo many amazing, clever people out there that make amazing, gorgeous things!! Last year I saw this idea at Shelli's blog HERE and knew that one day I'd have to give it a try......
Of course the hunt for old jars here in Aussie doesn't seem as easy as our USA friends but my Mum is super great at garage sales and markets and found me some old Fowler's jars!! YAY!! So with this weeks challenge over at SUO being anything Sizzix, I jumped in to show you this project!!
It took me a few goes to work out how to make the bird (Elegant bird Bigz) and stuff it so it looked full and more "life-like" but in the end I think it turned out quite well! I made the nest out of canary breeding material and glued that to a Scallop circle (Scallop circle Bigz)
I love this saying from the set From the Heart, it speaks to me greatly in this busy world we live in and thought it would be a perfect addition to the jar. (added to the fact that I've used the Apothecary accents, another Sizzix die to cut it out!)
I've left it empty so as the lovely recipient can put inside whatever she likes..... perhaps a photo, some chocolates, assorted nature pieces, ribbon..... it's up to her!
I'm certainly making one for me this Mother's Day, I can't wait to see it on my desk and fill it with..... ummmm something wonderful!

Sharnee- I love your bird nest on the jar!! What a great idea and love how you have incorporated so many SU! Sizzix dies :-) Thanks for playing along at SU-Only Challenges!
Hello Sharnee,
You know I love a good bird and now you have taken it to the next step by making it 3D and putting it in a nest! What a lovely decorative number this is. Good luck with the challenge!
And the recipient ADORES it!!! I have your gorgeous gift in the kitchen so I can look at it every day! We are collecting "ring pulls" from the top of cans for William's class. Apparently they are recylcled to make prosthetic limbs! So that is what the jar is being used for at the moment!
Wow, now that's a unique entry to the SUO challenge!! :) Great job!
